The hotel, Outrigger Waikiki has partnered with Creative Native Crafts to specialize in Hawaiian Islands themed supplies. Two women, Bella Finau-Faumuina and Delia Parker-Ulima, wrote a book “that gives scrapbookers tips on creating pages that convey an island feeling.” These ladies began with a home business selling scrapbooking supplies, then they opened the shop, Creative Native Crafts in Kaneohe. This is the shop partnering with Outrigger Waikiki. The themes in their book portray mini-history lessons, covering island celebrations, food, lifestyle, beauty and legacies. They stated for the “Star Bulletin,” “Because we are native Hawaiian women, we feel the responsibility of coming up with something authentic.” Scrapbooking has become very popular especially in Hawaii. Since these islands are visited by over four million people annually, scrapbooking is extremely big business in local shops as well as on the internet. |
