Sad Time 3

On The Big Island of Hawaii, we had to take a shuttle boat to get to the Kailua-Kona Coast. While we were on shore, my kids played in the water and I watched the boats and relaxed. We did some shopping for some souvenirs. We actually did not do much that day because it was a short time on shore.  After leaving the Kona Coast, we arrived at Hilo and again we did not do much except just look around and shop. None of the family is that big into all the water sports that are available on both of these places; we took this time to shop.
On we cruised to Kauai our next destination. Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands.  Kaui has a special meaning for me after that day. We took a shuttle into the little shopping center and when we got off the shuttle there was a store that had oysters in a tub. For a small price, I was able to pick out an oyster and I could keep what was inside it. Inside my oyster were two yes two pink pearls. My boyfriend and I went over to see how they could be mounted. I expected to buy it myself but my boyfriend bought me the first ring from him there. After that, we took a tour around and we saw the Koloa-The Spouting Horn or Blowhole. Water is forced into a lava tube and it is forced up the hole on the top of the tube. Then we went on around to the Waimea Canyon.  WOW!  Waimea Canyon is about two miles wide and 10 miles long but 3600 feet deep. Again, the camera does not do it justice. However, hang onto your hats because it is very windy up there. However, the view is gorgeous. We went on through a little town of Uptown Hanapepe and back to the little shop area. The view that we saw on the cruise of the island as we were sailing was the Na Pali Coast. The Na Pali Cliffs reach about 4000 feet into the air. One of the openings of the cliffs was where the opening scene of Jurassic Park was filmed. The sunset, that night off the water was WOW again.  It was a very romantic night watching the sunset with my boyfriend, my son and his bride.
Our cruise took us back to Oahu. This is where we took a tour around the island. It was neat to drive part way around Diamond Head on to Hanama Bay. Standing on the top of the lookout, we could see the water was so clear I could see the bottom. That is a great place for snorkeling and swimming as seen in the pictures.
