When I think of quilting I think of my grandmother. She and about seven other women used to go to church every Thursday morning to do their quilting thing. One woman would have the tops already sewn together, she would do this at home. When the women would get to the church they would stand around the quilting frame and tie off the quilt that they have ready. They took orders for the color combinations of what certain people wanted and sell it to that person. It could be for her family or for a gift to someone else. They even made baby quilts there too. But the thing that I remember, was when I was first married we lived with my grandmother and I went with her one Thursday. It was the first time that I really saw what the ladies did there. It was fun to help the ladies and listen to their stores and they tied the quilts off. My grandmother a has since them passed away but that will always be a very fond memory. I have made a couple of quilts for my grandchildren. When I did it, my mother was there too and we had a very good time too.
