I have tried to crochet but, for me it was to slow. But, for my mother she did it a lot and for many years. She used to crocheted to help someone. She used to crochet things to sell and raise money for the local Relay for Life. The Relay for Life is where we raise money for cancer research. My Dad died of cancer in 1993 and Mom had cancer in 1994 but thank God, she survived. She made butterflies for refrigerators, roses for vases, crosses for bookmarks, hair scrunches, and more. She even had some roses at a nursing home where they used them as prizes for there games.
