Arizona Memorial

The Arizona Memorial is a watery grave for over 1100 brave sailors. As the ship was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 when the attack started the Arizona took a direct hit, the mighty ship sank in less than nine minutes. Eighty percent of the lives lost on December 7, 1941 were on the Arizona. It was a sad feeling that all those lives ended right there where I was standing on the memorial they all lay below the water now. Parts of the ship can be seen from the memorial. The structure was built and dedicated on May 30, 1962. The memorial is 106 ft. wide and 608 ft. long.  The visit from the film to the boat trip to the memorial takes about 75 minutes. Elvis Presley gave all of the money that he made from his Pearl Harbor concert to the memorial building fund in 1961.  The oil that you see is actual oil leakage from the Arizona.

These are pictures of the water above the ship. You can see part of the ship and the leakage from the Mighty Mo.
